It’s been exactly one year since I launched my Sweet Honeybee Coaching + Consulting Website!!!!!
Oh my gosh, this is so incredibly exciting! I mean, seriously, I am super proud!
When I thought about launching Sweet Honeybee, I thought it was this far-off dream. However, there was something inside me that kept propelling me forward to share my knowledge of change, my passion around positivity, and my tenacity to keep moving forward.
Never ever did I imagine I would launch merely two months before a global pandemic. That is just downright crazy in retrospect, but it’s obstacles and challenges that keep us growing.
Within the first few days of the pandemic hitting the United States, I knew I wanted to provide an even bigger change around all things that were hitting us.
I’ll admit those first two months were insanely scary. I felt paralyzed with anxiety not knowing how this new life would impact us, my family and friends, neighbors, colleagues, peers, acquaintances, and everyone else in this world, for that matter.
So here we are, one year later from the launch of Sweet Honeybee on January 10, 2020 and I’ve learned a lot about myself, the business world, and the world in general.
Here are some thoughts
Change is inevitable
As they say, “change is the only constant”. The one great thing about change, though, is when can plan around it, create a strategy, adapt to what’s coming, reflect a bit, fail a little, and then adapt some more, this makes uncertainty a little less uncertain.
Being uncomfortable promotes growth and confidence
I will admit when I first launched Pandemic 2020-2021, I was terrified what people would think about me and what I was putting out there. However, what I realized is that I have skills around change, positivity, and leadership development. I want to share these gifts and superpowers with the world. My goal is to provide hope, positivity, and awareness that magic is everywhere, so that we can move forward fearlessly.
Starting a business is hard, yet very exciting
This phrase is an understatement. There’s a lot that goes into a business: content development, website design, marketing, building your network, getting clients, etc. If that’s not enough, I’m working fulltime, serving on a board, and going through fertility treatment. That’s a lot! However, I am so passionate about Sweet Honeybee and it’s growth that I want to experience even if it means failing and adapting over and over.
Pandemic living is also intense
I’ve learned holding a space for grace is essential whether it be starting a business, adjusting to pandemic living, experiencing fertility treatments at the same time of a global pandemic (really hard), working in a new dynamic, and witnessing trial and error over and over when learning, growth, acceptance, trying new things, and connection is what’s important. We aim for perfection, but perfection takes time. As long as we learn, accept what is, gain awareness, adapt, reflect, understand what we want and what keeps the world moving, , it reminds to stay present and cherish all the big and small moments and special people in our life.
Stress is real
We are surrounded by many, many triggers and distractions. Could you believe my desk set-up was causing me major anxiety where it make my head spin immensely because of the multiple cords everywhere? Regardless, these stressors add up whether it be emotional, physical, mental, social, environmental, or spiritual. One out of place trigger can influence the way we feel in big, big way. Managing stressors doesn’t have to be hard, though, it’s about acknowledging it, being at choice, and doing something about it.
Our connections make a difference
They build us up when we are down, they hold space when we need an extra ear, and they allow us to be who we truly our without fear of shame. I’m so incredibly grateful for the friends and family in my life. They make this world a little less scary because they are always there. Our connections contribute to our energy, positively and negatively. Surrounding ourselves with those that lift us up and bring us joy can has a dramatic effect when compared to the opposite as it starts this contagious cycle of good vs bad. Lean in to those connections that build you up. In addition, if there’s one good thing that happened in 2020, it was the acknowledgement of mental health. It’s okay to not be okay. It’s also always okay to ask for help!
Everyone is resilient and so it our country
Resilience is all about building yourself back up. Sometimes, we fall and sometimes, we fall a lot, but that doesn’t mean we give up. During this pandemic even though some parts were so incredibly hard, we have all learned how to adapt and live in this new life. This is the practice of resilience. Keep going, keep adapting, keep learning, keep embracing change, and keep having faith we can instill positive change.
It’s time to utilize our gifts and superpowers
I have always known I am pretty creative and positive, but I didn’t realize until this year that it truly is a superpower of mine. When I think about all that I created, 300+ tips of the day, 25+ Leading and Coaching through Change Newsletters, I seem to surprise myself. If that’s not enough, this year, I plan to continue the tips, write a book, create a calendar, write some blog articles, and make some videos. Point of this, when we step into our superpower, it fuels us to make magic and to live it every day. Find yours.
Human compassion is stronger than hate
There have been periods of outright hate. This absolutely saddens me, when at my core, I believe in humanity. Empathy is what makes this world go round. A small act of compassion, kindness, love can go a long way. People ultimately want good things to happen to each other, we have to be reminded from time to time of the good in the world. When we come together, it’s the compassion and empathy that creates synergy and promotes growth, healing, inclusion, and the invitation of love.
It’s okay to want more
This year I am accepting abundance in my life which means growing my business, aligning with my values, and making my dreams a reality whether it be with my health and wellbeing, career, connections, home, etc. 2021 – I have a lot of fun things coming and it’s time for growth, enjoyment, endless possibilities, and making magic happen. We all have goals and dreams and it’s okay to be selfish to want more for ourselves. Make it happen. Do what makes your heart flutter and go after what you want.
So, here it is, 10 things I’ve learned this year. I’m so excited for more and hope you continue on my journey.
If there is any better time to start fresh, it’s now. So honeybees…
